Today I fished the Smith where I thought I might find some fresh fish. In hindsight, I was a day late on that part of the river, as I heard reports that the middle section was the hot spot. We still ended up going 1 for 1, landing a chrome-brite 30lb hen near the takeout. By the end of the day, the water was already starting to clear, so again we're in need of more rain. The forecast calls for off and on rain all weekend, so hopefully fishing will continue to improve. The Smith should be good for the next few weeks as long as we keep getting rain. The Eel, Mad, and Redwood Creek are now all open to fishing with the last rain. I went out to the estauary on the Eel this past week and didn't see any signs of fish moving in, however I did hear that salmon were holding up downriver from the forks. I have some dates available in the coming weeks, call me and let's go fishing! The best way to reach me is my cell phone. (707) 616-3716 FISH ON! Patrick- |
