This weekend I fished the South Fork of the Eel down near Redway. The river was fishable, but hadn't yet turned that nice shade of green and had only about a foot and a half of visibility. There were quite a few boats on our run, a clear sign that rain is needed up north. We fished both bait and plugs with equal results. On Saturday we went 1 for 2, landing a thick 12 lb. chromer that put up an amazing fight. Sunday we were 2 for 3, with a bunch of missed opportunities. The South Fork should continue to produce fish as it clears this week, although rain is in the forecast for Thursday and Friday.

I'll be fishing the Smith Friday through Sunday and I'm hoping for rain. Conditions have been tough as the river is clear and there just doesn't seem to be many fish in the system.

I still have open dates throughout the steelhead season, so give me a call.

Fish On!
